The awards honour achievement and outstanding broadcasting, as a tribute to a ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Legend. For us here at ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Stoke, being nominated for a Gillard is a great honour. In the last 5 years we've been awarded two Gillard Golds and also a bronze one! So far we're doing well. And in 2008, it was the turn of our Sports team, who won a bronze medal for their coverage of Stoke City's glorious promotion to the Premier League. ![]() A Gillard Award Trophy Their bronze in the Sports Coverage Category was earned through the sheer breadthÌý and variety of their broadcasting of the Potters' return to the top flight and the success of the popular debate show here at Radio Stoke - Praise and Grumble. 'Pottermouth’s rallying cry'Also, theÌýimaginative use of unique content from local radio listeners such as 'Pottermouth’s rallying cry' was recognised by the judging panel. Frank Gillard
When that anonymous caller phoned the answer phone at Radio Stoke and left his spirit raising message of encouragement for the Stoke City team, I bet he never imagined he'd be helping us on our way to a Gillard now did he?! So, congratulations go out to Graham McGarry, John Acres, Matt Sandoz and the rest of the sports team.
