The roads are in place and they’re expecting to start putting up the first buildings in 2008, by which time the new footbridge will be ready to open. Work has started on the ground now on that. ![]() The new Tees footbridge should be finish The University of Durham formally announced this summer that it wants to spread its campus on the south bank of the river across to be part of the North Shore as well. Picture galleryYes, there’ll be offices and a hotel. Yes, there will be a big chunk of university there, but yes, you will be able to buy a home looking out onto the river, next to the funky, wobbly new bridge. Planning permission for the basic outline of this development has already been granted.
