Carers opt for Chinese Chan

On Monday 18th August, carers from Swindon Carers gathered at their Wood Street base, to put themselves in the hands of the art of Chinese relaxation.

The event organised by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Wiltshire's CSV Outreach Manager, Camilla Bassett-Smith, in line with the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ China Campaign, saw over 15 people take an hour out of their hectic lives to listen to the wise words and calming voice of Hugh Carroll.

Hugh teaches at the Swindon Chan group, and shared his knowledge of Buddhist meditation and teaching embracing Chan, Tibetan and Theravada approaches.

Hugh, who has a meditation certificate from the Western Chan Fellowship and has studied in China, spoke of the stresses and strains of everyday life, and how best to cope with that. The group was then lead through a 15 minute 'body scan' relaxation session.

Many of the attendees spoke of their pleasure at having spent an hour concentrating on themselves, and commented on how relaxing and helpful the event had been.
