This is what some people in London told us.

Some heroes are famous, like politicians and movie stars. Some are personal heroes - one woman says her hero is her mother.

And what makes someone a hero? They can be a role model, a leader, or someone you look up to. Often they have been through a lot of problems in life before they succeeded.

Cultural tip

National Heroes' Day is a national holiday of the Philippines. It pays homage to heroes throughout the country's history. This day falls on the fourth Monday of August every year.
