Writers are invited to submit short audio play scripts for this year's event.
Although this is still an open themed event the team are interested in creating at least one play on the happenings in Alderney (Channel Island) of 1941 to 1945 and also one play on the Panacea Society/Joanna Southcott.
They are also keen to have more writers from the region of the South West of England enter the event hence at least one of the ten play slots will be reserved for a writer with local connections.
That still leaves up to seven open themed slots to pitch for.
Guidelines Summary Only
- Do read these guidelines. Last year dozens of plays were immediately discarded for failing to follow the brief.
- Any topic suitable for daytime broadcast is welcomed. (The broadcaster will reject strong language)
- The play should run for around 10 minutes in length.
- Basic sound effects can be suggested.
- It is planned that two actors will be made available for each play. Actors can voice multiple characters.
- The piece should be original and not have been performed before.
- The email accompanying a submission should contain contact details, a brief synopsis of the play (30 words max), confirmation that it is your own original work and that you are eighteen or older; agreement that the play can be broadcasted - if necessary with minor editing to make it suitable (Afterwards the rights to your play belong to you). If you have links to the South West of England you explain what they are with a single sentence.
- Only the plays title should be written in the file name of your sent document and your own name should not be on the actual script.
- The broadcaster's listeners will be primarily in the age-range 29-49. The season of broadcast will be Winter and some writers might have this in mind as they shape their piece.
- Only one entry per writer.
- Judging will be initially based on the first and last page.
- Plays which are not for radio/audio broadcast will be discounted. This means that direction should be mainly voiced by characters; signalling to the audience what is going on.
- Plays should be submitted in a standard form such as a pdf file to contentcreated@yahoo.com before the deadline date.
A has been created for further updates. Look there for full details of the guidelines.
Entrants are invited to view the Facebook page in the late Autumn, to see which plays have been selected to move towards rehearsals. Plays moving successfully through rehearsals will be recorded in early December 2025.
In submitting your play agreement is made that the selected writers will have their play recorded, played over the radio and receive access to their own copy of the performance.
Deadline for submissions: 7th September 2025
