Responding to the announcement today that ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Worldwide has won the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the International Trade category, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Trust Chairman Sir Michael Lyons said:

"This is an excellent win for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Worldwide - I congratulate all the staff who have worked so hard to increase revenues from exports. And crucially it is also an important win for licence fee payers who each benefit from ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Worldwide's activities to the tune of about £9 per year.

"The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Trust strongly supports ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Worldwide as a vigorous commercial organisation focused on the long term interests of its owners, the licence fee payers. The Trust's ongoing review of the company's remit, operations and governance will further strengthen that focus."

The accolade is awarded on the Queen's official birthday every year. The International Trade Award recognises substantial growth in overseas earnings and commercial success at outstanding levels, based on three years trading results.

Over the timeframe, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Worldwide showed that it had increased its overseas revenues by a third and had returned over £1billion pounds of revenue from overseas activity back into the UK's creative industries. It does so by working in partnership with both the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ and independent production companies to acquire intellectual property, and with third parties like licensees and international broadcasters to exploit these rights through its business operations.
