ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Trust seminar on impartiality and the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Arts coverage

On 23 June 2014, the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Trust held the third in its series of impartiality seminars, this time focusing on the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Arts coverage.

An invited audience including ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ staff and external interested guests and speakers discussed a range of subjects related to impartiality and the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s Arts coverage. ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Trustee for England and Chair of the Trust’s Editorial Standards Committee, Alison Hastings, has written on the discussion that took place and a full list of attendees has also been published below.

The Trust’s impartiality seminars were first introduced in 2011 to strengthen the Trust’s work in ensuring that the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s standards of impartiality were being met.

Unlike the existing impartiality reviews carried out by the Trust, they are not based on reviews of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ output. Instead they facilitate a discussion to enable the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ to consider how to approach current and topical issues, which pose difficulties for programme makers, with due impartiality.
