ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Music Live is the focal point for the weekend of celebration,
which will include hundreds of street parties and exhibitions
in and around the city.
The free 10-hour celebration of world music on Monday, June
3rd features musicians from all the world.
There will be six stages around the Harbourside, with a strong
line-up of international acts alongside local up-and-coming
bands.
Radio 3 will be featuring highlights of music from the stage
at the Canons' Marsh amphitheatre, with live coverage from 7.30pm
onwards co-presented by Andy Kershaw and Verity Sharp.
The headline act will be Senegalese superstar Cheikh Lo.
For full details of what's on when, check out our Music
Live page.
Fireworks
The Canons' Marsh concert ends with fireworks at 10pm, and will
be followed by a late night ticketed event in Bristol's Arnolfini,
featuring the bamboo flute of Indian classical musician Rakesh
Chaurasia with Talvin Singh on keyboards and tabla.
Tickets for this event are available from the Arnolfini box
office at £5.
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Music Live is just one of the many events taking place in
the city to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II's 50 year reign.
Historyfest
One such event is Historyfest, which takes place at the Council
House on College Green and the city's Industrial Museum.
Throughout Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June there will be special
exhibitions and illustrated talks on Bristol's history during
the past 50 years.
Highlights include a talk by balloonist Don Cameron, music and
the Sealed Knot Display of Arms on College Green.
Jubilation
Saturday and Sunday will also see the advent of Jubilation -
a celebration of 50 years of Bristol's history told through
song, dance, drama and film.
Taking place at the Colston Hall it will include music from
the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½'s Returners Orchestra.
Parties
Fifty street parties have also been arranged by the city council
across the city, and there are plenty of parties organised by
local groups and residents. For a full list check out our
