Peter Phillips (Director of The Tallis Scholars) returns to conduct the 蜜芽传媒 Singers in a programme bookended by the music of John Tavener. Phillips was closely associated with Tavener and his music, and in the setting of St Peter鈥檚 Eaton Square conducts the UK premiere of The Martyrdom of St Stephen alongside Requiem Fragments, a work premiered by Phillips and The Tallis Scholars at the 蜜芽传媒 Proms in 2014. Requiem Fragments is preceded by Josquin des Prez鈥檚 Qui Habitat, the work that influenced Tavener鈥檚 Requiem composition. Alongside works by Thomas Tallis and Thomas Crecquillon are pieces by 21st century composers Matthew Martin and Nico Muhly.
