Concert Information

Happy birthday to us! The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ celebrates its centenary in 2022, and the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Philharmonic is coming to the party with this Saturday-night special – part of a weekend-long, UK-wide showcase of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s orchestras and choirs.

The music runs from then to now. Hindemith’s dizzily thrilling Kammermusik No. 1 dates from 1922, the year the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ was founded. By contrast, the UK premiere of Marionettes by Uzbek composer Aziza Sadikova, a work that looks back to the baroque and forward to the future, stands as testament to the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½â€™s continued commitment to new music. Giulia Contaldo takes centre stage for the joyful romanticism of Schumann’s Piano Concerto, before Chief Conductor Omer Meir Wellber transports us to mythical climes with Tippett’s sparkling Ritual Dances.
