Put a ring on it... Hammered Out with the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Philharmonic Orchestra

Can you detect the reference hidden within Mark-Anthony Turnage’s Hammered Out? Hint: It’s Beyonce. Turnage brings together influences from pop, R&B and 70s jazz funk, driving the music forward relentlessly with a hammer - a steady, motoric beat.

Roxanna Panufnik’s Songs Without Words form a reimagination of three songs by Alma Mahler.

Lastly, Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess: A Symphonic Picture evokes a state of dreaming and longing as only George Gershwin’s work can.

These concerts will be performed side by side with students from Chetham’s School of Music.
