When you know what your goal is, but not how to reach it.
Overview
Think backwards from the goal, in steps, to the current situation.
How-to
- Start by writing the goal at the far right of a piece of paper or virtual whiteboard.
- Ask: "What would have to happen just before this for us to succeed?"
- Put the answer to the left of the goal. Then ask the same question for that answer.
- Repeat until you have stepped all the way back to today.
