Reflexology, Tai Chi, Indian cuisine and computer skills are among the 'tasters' on offer to tempt people to take up new interests iat a Gloucester event for Adult Learners' Week.

FACTS

+ Adult Learners’ Week, runs from Saturday May 10 to Friday May 16.

+ It
sees thousands of events nationwide celebrating adult learning and is a great opportunity for people to turn lifelong ambitions into reality.

+ ACET is Gloucestershire County Council's Adult Continuing Education and Training Service - it works in partnership with colleges, education providers and more than 200 community organisations to make adult education widely available.

+ Adult Learners Week culminates in an awards ceremony for the county's outstanding adult learners. Individuals and groups from all over the county are nominated because of the difference returning to learning has made to their lives.

It’s Never Too Late To Learn is an opportunity for you to participate in learning in a fun environment.

The sessions are designed to be both fun and informative, promoting learning as an enjoyable activity.

Information on further learning opportunities will also be available at the event at GL1 Gloucester Leisure Centre.

The event is being organised by the ACET (Adult Continuing Education and Training) Gloucester Consortium, the CSV Action Desk at ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Gloucestershire and the Living & Learning Centre at GL1.

It’s Never Too Late To Learn takes place on
Sunday May 18 from 10am to 4pm - so go on, give it a go!

WHAT CAN YOU LEARN?

It’s Never Too Late To Learn… about learning in your local area
Location: Outside the Living & Learning Centre and in the Function Bar
Time: 10am-4pm
Details: A wide range of organisations will be attending the event with information on local learning opportunities, ranging from the more traditional education through to more diverse learning.

Come along to pick up information and talk to the experts!

It’s Never Too Late To Learn… about Henna Painting
Location: Outside Function Bar
Time: 10am-4pm
Details: Mehndi and Manicures will be available from the Fusion Girls Youth Group.

It’s Never Too Late To Learn… about Reflexology
Location: Living & Learning Centre
Time: Consultations available every 20 minutes between 10am-4pm
Details: It’s your lucky day! Sit back, relax, and discover the benefits of reflexology with a 20 minute taster.
Appointments are bookable at the Living & Learning Centre on the day.

It’s Never Too Late To Learn… about Japanese Braiding
Location: On the Women’s Institute stand in the Function Bar
Time: 10am-4pm
Details: Braiding on a card is a fun and colourful activity for all. Come and learn a new craft!

Location: Function Room

Details: In a rapidly changing world, where the information available to us doubles every two years, isn't it about time we taught ourselves how to learn?
After all if information changes that quickly surely what we really need is to know is how to learn the new information as quickly and effectively as possible.
In the space of 30 minutes this workshop will introduce you to the awesome power of your brain. So are you ready to experience an insight to what you're truly capable of learning?

Location: Function Room
Time: 11.30am-noon
Details: Tips and ideas of how to become a stress buster!

It’s Never Too Late To Learn… to speak Spanish
Location: Function Room
Time: Workshops at 1.30pm, 2.15pm and 3pm Details: Ever fancied learning another language? Here’s the chance to learn some Spanish phrases, which are sure to impress your friends!

It’s Never Too Late To Learn… Tai Chi
Location: Horizons Exercise Studio
Time: 1pm-1.30pm
Details: Come along and watch a demonstration of Tai Chi with hands, broadsword and fans. You will then have the opportunity to have a go!
Outdoor shoes are not permitted in the studio so bring your trainers or go barefoot.

It’s Never Too Late To Learn… Kung Fu
Location:
Horizons Exercise Studio
Time: 1.30pm-2pm
Details: Come along to find out more about this martial art and have a go yourself!
Unfortunately outdoor shoes are not permitted in the studio so bring your trainers or wear bare feet.

It’s Never Too Late To Learn… to Tango Location: Horizons Exercise Studio
Time: 2pm-3pm
Details: Argentinean Tango lets dancers express any emotion that they feel. It can be slow or fast, complex or simple.
Once you have mastered the basics, you really can do whatever you want - it is very improvisational and creative.
If you’ve always fancied having a go, this is your chance! No experience required! Unfortunately outdoor shoes are not permitted in the studio so bring your trainers.

It’s Never Too Late To Learn… to Salsa Location: Horizons Exercise Studio
Time: 3.00-4.00pm
Details: Salsa is highly sociable, healthy, cultural and above all fun.
Thomas Melendez from Salsa del Sol will guide you through the basic steps of salsa and then show you how to dance with a partner.
For all ages and abilities, no previous experience is necessary. So come on your own, with a partner, family or friends, just bring enthusiasm and a sense of fun! Outdoor shoes are not permitted in the studio so bring your trainers.

It’s Never Too Late To Learn… about a different culture
Location: Function Room
Time: 3.30-4.00pm
Details: Bring the whole family for storytelling by an African storyteller, followed by an African dance performance.
