FEELGOOD FRIDAY
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Learning Centre, Eastgate Street, Gloucester
Friday January 28, 10am-4pm
It's FREE, it's FUN, and it'll help you
FEEL GOOD!

The Fat Nation TV show on ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½1 in the autumn kicked off The Big Challenge by turning attention on a Birmingham street where half the residents were overweight.

At the end of the series they were all in far better shape thanks to the support of the F-Team experts - fitness guru Efua Baker, psychologist John Marsden and nutritionist Vicki Edgson, also known as Miss Chiplash.

Joe Ward

Now three of the stars of the show are coming to Gloucester to inspire others to follow their example.

Former junk-food addicts Joe Ward (right) and John Bradley, new mum Sem Komurcugil, and one-time chip-loving, exercise-hating school nurse Del Derrington will be at ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Gloucestershire's Feelgood Friday on January 28.

Feelgood Friday is a free, fun event at the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Learning Centre with the message that changing to a healthier lifestyle can be enjoyable AND achievable.

Feelgood Friday will turn the centre in Eastgate Street into a 'one-stop-shop' with nutritionists, health, diet and fitness experts under one roof.

Buttock-clenching

As part of the fun ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Gloucestershire's Breakfast show with Vernon Harwood will be broadcast live from the Learning Centre with healthy breakfast served to listeners who come in and take part.

Vernon will also be trying out a rowing machine and some of the Big Challenge exercise tips - including walking and buttock-clenching!

Competition

You can also enter an online competition with the chance to win a one-to-one session with Fat Nation's F-team. The prize includes a fitness consultation, a nutritional overhaul and a mental wellbeing consultation.

You can start getting fit the fun way right away on Feelgood Friday by joining in our free dance demos.

And if you think food that's good for you just isn't as nice as the usual version, see if you can spot the difference in our 'healthy versus high-calorie' taste test - we'll have loads of free grub for you to try!

Take a health MOT - free blood pressure and body mass index checks so you can find out your own health and fitness level, then talk to local healthy living experts about feeling good by...

  • Choosing a sensible food plan you can stick to

Personal fitness trainer Graeme Hilditch

Everyone who visits Feelgood Friday can enter our prize draw with loads of great 'healthy living' prizes to be won including a session with personal fitness trainer Graeme Hilditch.

Graham, a former fitness coach with Brisbane Broncos, one of Australia's leading rugby teams, will be at Feelgood Friday to talk about the benefits of doing exercise you enjoy. Try his hi-tech rowing machine where you can take part in a virtual race or put on the boxing gloves and see if you can floor him!

If that's too energetic for you let the stress and cares of the week drift away with a relaxing Indian head massage.

The Big Challenge - be fit not fat

    Big Challenge logo

Britain is in the grip of an obesity epidemic - and that's why the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ has launched The Big Challenge.

But the Big Challenge is NOT about just putting people on diets. The aim is to provide the tips and tools to help you make easy, achievable, changes in your eating and activity habits to help you get healthier and stay that way for good.

    Salsa dancing
Salsa dancing is one fun way to get fit

The focus is on simple, easily achievable lifestyle changes with a fun flavour.

For example, sport and going to the gym isn't the only way to get fit - why not go dancing instead? Salsa, jazzjive, belly and line-dancing are all great ways to shake yourself into shape!

The Big Challenge Roadshow came to Gloucester on Saturday 8th January 2005 . The roadshow featured one-to-one consultations with a dietician, expert advice on adopting a healthier lifestyle, and fun exercise sessions. Read the review of the day with picture gallery!
