My father worked with the barage baloons in the airforce, he used some of the baloon material to insulate or air-raid shelter in the front we also kept old wellies and mac's handy so we could use them if there was an air-raid.

I remember my mother kepping newspapers, Which she used to get free fish and chips from the shop at the bottom of richardson street wallsend.

My mother worked in the shipyards cleaning cabins out on the newly built ships ready for the war.
