One Sunday morning in the summer of 1940, my sister and I were sleeping late, and my young brother, Hugh, who was waiting to join the R.A.F, came home from his ��ѿ��ý Guard exercises. Popping his head round the entrance to the shelter, he called out “The invasion has started!” — Fortunately this turned out to be another rumour — one of so many flying around at the time.
