2004 saw the UK government make public its wish that a large part of the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ should move outside London, and in 2006 the Salford Quays site was chosen outside Manchester.
Bridge House, Dock House and Quay House are now the homes of some 2,700 ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ staff. It is co-sited with ITV, with whom it shares the use of the largest studios on the site. The entire centre is one of the largest HDTV programme making facilities in Europe.
The site is the home of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Children's (CBeebies and CÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½) and ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sport, ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 5 Live and 6Music, as well as ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Manchester and the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Philharmonic Orchestra.
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Breakfast, Match of the Day, Blue Peter, Mastermind, North West Tonight are just some of the programmes which come from MediaCityUK.
