The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ is committed to helping people become more media literate and develop the skills to better use, understand and create media - especially in relation to new online technologies and services. This includes being able to use new technology, find and navigate information, engage critically with the content, understand the context, manage any risks, and create new content.

More information about what media literacy means and our strategic approach helping people develop these skills can be found in the media literacy strategy.

focuses on the skills that people need to make the most of life online. The site hosts a suite of learning resources, features relevant news stories and provides real-life examples of how getting connected can improve life at home, work and in business.

The Lab is a team of content producers within ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Learning who work with members of our audience to give them the skills necessary to create broadcast content. Its remit is to create opportunities to learn media literacy skills through face-to-face experience on location, skills workshops, digital resources and participating in live broadcasts.

Digital Creativity

In October 2013 the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ announced a new initiative to inspire the next generation to get creative with digital technology and computer coding.

Using its world-class TV, radio and online services, the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ aims to bring digital technology and computer coding to homes, businesses and schools over the coming years, with a major focus in 2015.

From working with children and young people, to stimulating a national conversation about digital creativity, the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ will help audiences embrace technology and get creative. Whether it's apps, websites, games, computer code, robotics or digital art, a range of ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ tools and resources will give people the skills to solve problems, tell stories and build new businesses in the digital world.

Partnerships will be at the heart of this initiative, enabling the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ to explore ideas and opportunities with the industry and help amplify their inspiring work in this area. The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ will work closely with a range of local, national and international partners, across several sectors, including the government, educators and technology companies.
