The Plough wins POTY! The Plough in Radford has won the first ever Nottingham
POTY (Pub of the Year) Award.
Richard Studeny, Nottingham CAMRA Chairman says: “The Plough
is a perfect example of how an inner city back-street local should
be run. A friendly atmosphere, good ambiance, a nice customer base,
consistently good quality real ales, no bad language and no drug dealing”.
The Plough is home to the Nottingham Brewery, set up by Phil Darby
and Niven Balfour. Joint licensees David Williams and Peter Darby
run the pub, which features Nottingham BreweryÂ’s beers as well
as microÂ’s from across the country.
Phil Darby says: “We are extremely proud
to be even a contender let alone win it!”
Final judging based on national criteria took place between four Nottingham
pubs. The others were: the Victoria in Beeston, the Cock & Hoop
in the Lace Market, and the Bell Inn, Nottingham.
