 Vernon
Kay to host new shows as Radio 1 confirms changes to daytime line
up
Radio
1 today confirmed Vernon Kay is one of a series of presenters
to be given new shows in the latest round of changes on the network.
The
moves, made possible by the impending departure of Mark & Lard
and Sara Cox's maternity leave, will mean changes to both the weekday
and weekend line up.
Along
with Colin & Edith's new weekday show, Scott Mills
will be taking over from Sara Cox in the afternoons from
the end of May.
Over
the sports-packed summer months, The Breakfast Show's 'Comedy'
Dave will be teaming up with Mark 'Chappers' Chapman
from The Sara Cox show.
The
pair will present a brand new weekend show covering all the latest
sporting action from across the globe.
The
new look line up will be as follows:

Vernon
said "I've only been on the station for a couple of months
so I am pretty chuffed that they have agreed to give me a bigger
slice of the Radio 1 pie. I promise to be careful with it."
'Comedy'
Dave added "We were asked to do a show on Boxing Day called
Chappers and Dave's Football Annual, which we assumed was so called
because it would not appear more than once a year, but they've asked
us to come back for a summer season.
"We're
both delighted and refute any claims that we're being groomed as
a kind of Saint and Greavsie for a new generation."
