The Prom concludes with renowned Shostakovich interpreter Semyon Bychkov conducting the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Symphony Orchestra in the powerful and strikingly cinematic Symphony No 11, written in 1957. On the surface the work commemorates the failed anti-Tsarist uprising of 1905, but deep down it rages at the Soviet authorities.
