Iona turns detective to protect Big Bob. Another poison pen letter puts pressure on Michael. Leyla discovers Nicole is in trouble at school. Jack extends an olive branch to Murray.
Big Bob's parental skills are put to the test when he has to placate an irate Christina who's reeling from a barney with Molly. Later Iona witnesses Christina's dismissive behaviour to Big Bob and can't resist sticking her oar in, calling Christina a 'spoilt wee madam'. When gossiping with Molly and Liz, Iona calls Tatiana a scheming witch and Christina a manipulator which Big Bob overhears. He leaves, dejected and hurt. Iona pursues him to apologise, but it falls on deaf ears. Iona is told some home truths by Annie and Raymond - she's in denial and jealous of Tatiana's relationship with Big Bob and if she doesn't stop interfering, she'll risk losing him as a friend forever. Iona tracks down Big Bob at his work to apologise. It's reluctantly accepted on the basis that she never badmouths Tatiana or Christina again. Iona promises to be more loyal and offers to look after Christina tonight whilst Big Bob is at his gig. Sceptical, Big Bob agrees. Christina takes some convincing, but succumbs to the idea when she hears Nicole might come too. Gina hands over Christina's handbag, but Iona quickly snatches it from the clutches of nosey Molly.
Bob's hugely embarrassed when his bank card is rejected in the deli. Iona has her own suspicions about where all Big Bob's money's gone - it's Tatiana. Iona has a nosey through Christina's handbag, looking for clues and she's not disappointed! It mentions partnership agreements and appropriating accounts - hard evidence surely that the Ukranians are planning to use Big Bob as their meal ticket. Iona is Googling 'Russian Scammers.org'.
The girlie night is under way and Iona primes Nicole to fish information from Christina. Nicole's having none of it. She damned if she's spying for Iona. As Iona starts probing for information about Tatiana, the girls start chatting and getting pally. Nicole gives her the wink that Iona is trying to get the lowdown on her. Christina is hurt. By way of revenge, the teenagers wind Iona up with tall tales about insurance policies being taken out on Big Bob's life!
Iona's agitated, searching for clues. She gets one in the form of a text from Tatiana on Christina's mobile 'All going to plan. Bob OK?' She suspects these guys are ripping off her lovely Big Bob and decides to contact the police.
A furious Michael has found out that Nicole has failed to turn up for her school exams. He turns up to 'extract' her from the party and a shouting match ensues between Michael, Nicole and Christina. Just as things calm down slightly, the police arrive looking to question Big Bob about his 'relationship' with Christina. Iona's stunned. The police need to establish who is responsible for Christina's welfare. Big Bob gives an impassioned plea as her guardian and the matter is put to rest when they get Tatiana on the phone to confirm the arrangement. Well done Big Bob!
Nicole's on study leave. A letter has arrived for Michael but, sensing trouble, Nicole hides it. The letter is informing Nicole's parents she's been missing classes and failed to turn up for her exams. Leyla and Adeeb are reminiscing warmly about her late husband and that fact that his cousin, Zinnie, will be coming to visit soon. Leyla tells Michael Zinnie will be visiting for a few weeks till she finds a flat and starts Uni in the autumn. Michael opens a letter 'You cannot trust your wife'.
Leyla hears that Nicole appears to be missing an exam today. She confronts Nicole and in a heated moment, she finds the letter from the school addressed to Michael and is horrified. Michael needs help with these poison pen letters and turns to Gabriel for advice. He'll have to tell Leyla. In a bid to soften the blow, Michael plans a romantic meal for Leyla and opens up about the letters and Leyla is shocked. When Michael relaxes, Leyla mentions the letter from school. Michael's furious. He storms out to confront Nicole at Iona's party. Michael finally persuades Nicole to come home as Christina chastises Big Bob for not stepping in to the argument, accusing him of being 'just a big kid'.
Michael gives Nicole the third degree about missing her exams. Drama over, everyone's gone to bed. Nicole's clearly been crying, upset by the day's events. She accidentally knocks her water into his briefcase which sits on the floor and as she tries to mop up, she finds one of the letters 'Your Daughter Ruins Lives'. Out on tear stained Nicole, inscrutable. The final straw?
Eileen's in a tizzy. The West End Festival is looming and the council have allocated Shieldinch a float. Eileen should have had arrangements in place to feedback to the organisers today, but she's done nothing. Murray comes to her rescue and takes on the mantle. He first suggests a float celebrating the shipyards which goes down like a lead balloon. Jack suggests a Brazilian theme involving the community salsa class but lets Murray take the credit. The others love the idea and after some persuasion, Murray agrees. Decision made.
