Two hundred and fifty World War II veterans join HRH the Princess Royal at Liverpool Cathedral for the 70th commemoration of the Battle of the Atlantic - a battle that started on the first day of World War II, and didn't cease until its last.

ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ to Western Approaches HQ, Liverpool was the hub from where thousands of men set sail, risking their lives to bring crucial supplies to an otherwise starving Britain.

Beneath the waves lurked a threat Churchill was to describe as the only thing that ever really frightened him - the U-Boat peril.

Veterans from the Royal and Merchant Navy join together to commemorate the longest battle of the Second World War, and remember those that never came back.
