Live from City Halls, Glasgow

Presented by Jamie MacDougall

Romance in song and symphony with the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Scottish Symphony Orchestra and acclaimed British conductor Mark Wigglesworth. This evening's concert opens with a selection of Mahler's songs from Des Knaben Wunderhorn sung by mezzo-soprano Alice Coote. These orchestral lieder, inspired by rustic German poetry, are amongst Mahler's most enduring and popular vocal music.

And the concert concludes with Bruckner's colourful Fourth Symphony, an orchestral work nicknamed 'The Romantic' for its epic lyricism and evocation of Austrian folkloristic endeavours.
