Written for the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Philharmonic and with tonight's conductor HK Gruber its dedicatee, the programme opens with the world premiere of David Matthews' Eighth Symphony. Matthew Barley is the soloist in Gruber's own Cello Concerto and after the interval there's a chance to hear Weill's emotionally-charged First Symphony and Gruber's compatriot Kurt Schwertsik's extrovert Baumgesänge.
