With Kathryn Tickell, featuring a Road Trip to Paraguay from Betto Arcos, and music from the Rudolstadt Festival in Germany. This week's Classic Artist is Tabu Ley Rochereau, a singer who flourished in the newly-independent Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the Mixtape is from listener James Roriston, based on recent travels to India and Sweden.
Three artists are featured from the Rudolstadt Festival in Germany, recorded in July by Bavarian Radio: the Familie Schuen sing in the rare language pf Ladin; Estonian band the Torupilli Jussi Trio pay homage to a veteran bagpiper; and Saz'iso sing the extraordinary folk music of Albania.
