Innovations for Learning

Innovations for Learning (IfL) is an educational charity that believes in the power of literacy to transform lives. TutorMate, our online literacy programme, pairs corporate volunteers with disadvantaged 5-to-7 year-old children across the UK. Children gain vital reading practice which boosts their reading confidence and enjoyment.聽

Dedicated 1:1 support

Dedicated 1:1 support
Every week, during term time, TutorMate children receive a call into their school classroom. A volunteer dedicates 30 precious minutes listening to them read, encouraging their passion for stories and reading.

Nurturing confident readers

鈥淭utorMate is definitely helping pupil progress and also definitely giving children a much needed confidence boost. The weekly, guaranteed one to one, ringing-in by an adult, just interested in them is so powerful.鈥� 鈥� teacher, St Ignatius Primary School聽

How you can help
It costs 拢300 to provide a child with a dedicated volunteer to give reading support for one year. A donation to Innovations for Learning could enable more volunteers to read online with more children and ensure that they get one-to-one support at a critical time in their education.
