Wrestling in Ballymoney, Back to Uni and Children’s Writer Paddy Donnelly

Wrestling in Ballymoney, a new U-S society at Queens and children’s writer and illustrator Paddy Donnelly.

Helen Mark presents ѿý Radio Ulster’s weekly Ulster-Scots magazine show this week alongside Rab Lennox and Willie Hill. Illustrating the diversity of the programme, this edition goes from the sublime to the ridiculous! First up, Jane Rea meets Paddy Donnelly, a writer and illustrator of children’s books often inspired by what surrounded him growing up on the north coast.
Next, the team is joined by Jay Basra, a student at Queens who has set up the university’s first UIster-Scots society. Then –a change of pace –Rab meets the team behind “Stay True Wrestling” who host events in Ballymoney – and even feature a wrestler from ‘the toon’. Who’d have thought you’d hear heavy metal and bodies being slammed on Kintra?

As always, listeners are invited to contact the programme with a good Ulster-Scots yarn or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email - kintra@bbc.co.uk.
