Cupertinos choir live at Wigmore Hall in London
Elizabeth Alker showcases the best performances from the UK and beyond, including a live concert from Wigmore Hall in London given by the Portuguese choir Cupertinos.
Elizabeth Alker showcases the best performances by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ orchestras, choirs, ensembles and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe.
The week begins with a live concert from London’s Wigmore Hall given by Portuguese choir Cupertinos. In a programme of music from their homeland, they highlight the creative spirit fostered at the cathedral in the city of Évora in the early 1600s.
The ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ National Orchestra of Wales take centre stage on Classical Live throughout this week, with a particular focus on the orchestral music of 20th-century Welsh composer Grace Williams. Today we hear her playful Fantasia on Welsh Nursery Rhymes, as well as the orchestra playing Mendelssohn’s ‘Scottish’ Third Symphony, in concert in Aberystwyth.
And across the week there’s chamber music recorded in Belfast, beginning today with former Radio 3 New Generation Artists Eivind Ringstad and the Mithras Trio in music by Gabriel Fauré.
