Los Thuthanaka’s mixtape
Verity Sharp journeys into the dense thickets of experimental sound, presenting a time-bending mixtape from California-based sibling duo, Los Thuthanaka.
Verity Sharp journeys into the dense thickets of experimental sound, presenting a specially curated mixtape from California-based sibling duo, Los Thuthanaka. Made up of Chuquimamani-Condori and Joshua Chuquimia Crampton, the duo draw on ancestral memory and futurist vision in equal measure. Following the release of their eponymous debut album earlier this year, Los Thuthanaka present a bold reimagining of traditional Andean forms, folding ceremonial rhythms into a heady blend of psychedelic rock and electronic experimentation.
Plus, a mutant reassembly of early Iranian piano recordings from Siavash Amini, caustic rap from Nyege Nyege affiliates MC Yallah and Debmaster, and some futuristic folk from Swiss micro-choir, Alice.
