Live from London's Wigmore Hall
Linton Stephens showcases the best performances from the UK and beyond, including a live recital from London's Wigmore Hall.
Linton Stephens showcases the best performances by ѿý orchestras, choirs, ensembles and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe.
We begin the programme with a live concert from London’s Wigmore Hall. Three of Scandinavia’s foremost artists, violinist Johan Dalene, cellist Andreas Brantelid and pianist Christian Ihle Hadland, gather to perform Korngold's vibrant Piano Trio in D Op. 1 and Ravel’s mesmerising Piano Trio in A minor.
This week on Classical Live, we will hear music inspired by the Arts including Stravinsky's Apollon Musagete which is based on the Greek myth of Apollo, the god of music, poetry, and the arts, and his relationship with the Muses.
Elsewhere, there's chamber music from sold out concerts at the Hay Festival, recorded exclusively for ѿý Radio 3 in May this year. Today pianist Danny Driver performs Faure and the Kleio String Quartet will play Alice Mary Smith's String Quartet in E “Tubal Cain”.
Plus, piano compositions by Rachmaninov are woven throughout the week. Today, pianist Mikhail Pletnev joins the Radio France Philharmonic Orchestra and conductor Dima Slobodeniouk in a performance of Piano Concerto No. 1 in F sharp minor, Op. 1
