Live concert from the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Philharmonic
Linton Stephens showcases the best performances from the UK and beyond, including a live recital from the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Philharmonic.
Linton Stephens showcases the best performances by ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ orchestras, choirs, ensembles and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe.
This week on Classical Live, we will hear music inspired by the Arts including Vaughan Williams' The Lark Ascending based on poetry by George Meredith, a suite from Rameau's ballet Les Boréades and Korngold's musical take on Shakespeare's 'Much Ado About Nothing'. Plus there is a live concert from the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Philharmonic and conductor Jack Sheen encompassing this theme with music by Respighi, Gipps and Rachmaninov.
Elsewhere, there's chamber music from sold out concerts at the Hay Festival, recorded exclusively for ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio 3 in May this year. Today the Mithras Trio perform a piece composed by one of the most important female composers from France, Mélanie Bonis.
