British saxophonist and broadcaster YolanDa Brown is sitting in for Soweto Kinch this week. YolanDa’s resumé exemplifies her deep love of music and her mission to share its magic far and wide. As an artist, her music blends jazz, soul, and reggae, and she has toured with The Temptations, Jools Holland’s Rhythm and Blues Orchestra, Snarky Puppy’s Bill Laurance and many more. YolanDa is also a prolific broadcaster and has hosted radio and television series, including her educational series “YolanDa's Band Jam”.
This week YolanDa is sharing some of her best loved tracks from across the jazz spectrum. She will also be welcoming British neo-soul royalty Omar as her Flowers guest.
From Monday to Thursday Omar will be selecting four contemporary artists that he would like to celebrate and spotlight. To begin his week, Omar chooses a leading saxophonist and close friend.
Plus, there’s music from Yazmin Lacey, Branford Marsalis, and Meredith Monk.
