In 1918, Virginia Compton founded a club in Soho, to provide safe and cheap board and lodging for actresses, singers and dancers arriving in London.

Actress Hannah Gordon tells the story of this refuge for aspiring female performers, as they struggled to make ends meet in-between their auditions and engagements.
