Wales Nature Week

Join us in the Berwyn Mountains for Wales Nature Week, meet a gym coach for riders, and explore how trees and livestock coexist in a Pembrokeshire agroforestry project.

In this week’s Country Focus, we’re marking Wales Nature Week!

First, Rhodri Davies heads to the Berwyn Mountains near Bala to explore how people are being encouraged to step outside and engage with nature – not just as something to observe, but something to protect, enjoy, and be part of.

Then, in Ceredigion, we meet Katie Williams, a personal trainer who runs Gym Pony, a business dedicated to helping horse riders stay fit, strong and balanced both on the ground and in the saddle. With client Jenni Jones, she explains why equestrian-specific workouts are making a real difference.

Finally, Megan Williams travels to Pencedni, a smallholding nestled below the Preseli Hills in Pembrokeshire, where they are pioneering an agroforestry approach – blending tree planting, livestock grazing and biodiversity to build a more sustainable and nature-friendly way of farming.

Nature, fitness, farming and the future of our countryside – all on this week’s Country Focus.
