Joe Webb’s 4/4
Soweto’s guest from Monday to Thursday is the rising star pianist Joe Webb.
‘Round Midnight is presented by award-winning saxophonist Soweto Kinch. This weekday late-night show celebrates the thriving UK jazz scene and spotlights the best new music alongside incredible acts from past decades.
Soweto’s guest from Monday to Thursday is the rising star pianist Joe Webb. Born in Wales, and now based in London, Joe is widely celebrated for his charismatic and nimble-fingered performances.
He has worked and performed with artists including Kansas Smitty’s, Rob Luft, and Jamie Cullum, and draws from a wide range of influences, from swing-era jazz to 90’s guitar bands.
This week Joe will be sharing some of the albums that have helped to shape his playing, for our 4/4 series. To begin, Joe chooses a favourite album from Oscar Peterson, ahead of his performance in tribute to the legendary pianist, as part of ‘Round Midnight’s ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Prom.
Our ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Prom line up also features American trumpeter Theo Croker, and Manchester born, Newcastle based vocalist Rivkala. For more information and tickets, head to bbc.co.uk/proms.
Also in tonight’s programme, there’s music from Kokoroko, Slowlight Quartet, and James Allsopp and Will Glaser.
