with Tony Kearney
Award-winning actor & comedian Gavin Mitchell shares his Spritual Life, Tony hears about Glasgow's Sufi Festival, and our panel chats AI romance, the truth within and superheroes.
This month marks 30 years since the massacre of more than 8,000 Muslim Bosniaks in the town of Srebrenica, which had taken place at the height of the war in the former Yugoslavia. We will be hearing the second part of a special report from Carol Purcell, who visited Bosnia-Herzegovina with the charity Remembering Srebrenica Scotland as part of an all-female delegation.
Next weekend sees the return of the third Sufi Festival of Islamic Arts and Mysticism in Glasgow. Programme director Tariq Mahmood tells Tony all about its programme of arts and culture from across the Muslim world.
The This Spiritual Life guest this week is award-winning actor and comedian Gavin Mitchell. He shares with Tony his upbringing, the profound impact his Granny had on his life, and just who inspired his creative path.
Joining Tony to look back on some of the big talking points of the week are social researcher and equalities campaigner Talat Yaqoob, co-chair of Edinburgh Interfaith Association and Emeritus Professor Joe Goldblatt, and clinical anthropologist and psychotherapist Dr Salma Siddique.
They will be discussing the alleged fabrication of key elements of Raynor Winn’s inspirational tale The Salt Path, asking what truth looks like and how we tell our own stories.
Our panellists also explore the dark side of AI romance as a new podcast tells the true story of a man who fell in love with his AI chatbot.
And can a comic book hero help us understand the immigrant experience, spiritual longing and the power of hope? Tony and his panel take a look a Superman’s origins as the new film lands in cinemas.
