Jeremy discusses the Lionesses and their victory at the Euros, the controversy over migrant hotels, Victorian illnesses, and we launch 21st Century Folk with a live performance from the musician Findlay Napier.
21st Century Folk on Radio 2 is a celebration of folk and people's stories marking 200 years of the modern railway. Today, Jeremy talks to Joanne, who volunteers as a fireman on a steam locomotive. He also speaks to Findlay Napier, who has written a song about her.
The award-winning and pioneering 21st Century Folk series returns to Radio 2 this week, with a celebration of music and stories on the Jeremy Vine Show. With Railway 200 as the theme – marking two centuries of the modern railway - we hear from five people who have an incredible tale to tell about their connection to trains and the rail network. We then set their stories to music as folk artists are inspired to write original songs based on what they’ve heard.
To listen on most smart speakers, just say: “ask ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Sounds to play Jeremy Vine".
