Francis Browne, a Festival in Carnlough and Working The Open
The Francis Browne Literary Festival, a Carnival in Carnlough and Working the Open.
Helen Mark presents ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Ulster’s weekly Ulster-Scots magazine show – this week alongside Jane Rea and Willie Hill. This week, Helen hears about a very special festival taking place East Donegal’s Finn Valley, celebrating ‘the blind poetess of Ulster’ – Francis Browne. The festival is unique in that it simultaneously platforms all three of this island’s languages. Meanwhile Jane is in Carnlough to hear about their carnival which concludes next weekend. Strangely – her host isn’t a local – but a native of Louisiana!
And don’t miss friend of the show Moore Blair who – having worked on the 18th tee – has all the behind the scenes craic frae The Open!
As always, listeners are invited to contact the programme with a good Ulster-Scots yarn or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email - kintra@bbc.co.uk.
