A series of six overheard conversation pieces by Alun Owen鈥檚 earwigger, a man who likes to listen to other people's conversations.

He always lunches at the same restaurant, and selects the table nearest the diners who will provide him with the best entertainment.

Mr Emmanuel is at a table next to a well-known journalist and his son. The two parties seem to have little in common.
