Episode 7 of 15

The keepers must work fast to keep a baby porcupine safe, and Kate catches up with elderly lioness Malaika

There’s cause for celebration as the park’s North American tree porcupine has given birth to a precious porcupette, the first to be born here. The keepers are thrilled, but within hours the tiny baby begins exploring the enclosure alone, leaving mum behind. Keepers must work fast to keep this bold adventurer safe.

Meanwhile, Kate catches up with Malaika, the elderly lioness who survived a risky sedation and was diagnosed with heart disease. The situation is further complicated by Malaika refusing her medication, but there is a glimmer of hope when the weakened matriarch is accepted back into the pride.

There’s a breakthrough in Wolf Wood as whistle training is rolled out to help breeding pair Terry and Meg get much-needed exercise. It’s a delicate process, and if it fails it could impact their chances of mating.

Over in Tiger Territory, Megan and Hamza are on a mission to tell four almost identical cubs apart. It’s a vital task as these rare Amur tigers are part of a breeding programme, so individual ID's are essential. Can Hamza’s zoom lens crack the code?
