Episode 12
Will emu dad Biscuit stay the course and incubate his eggs? Meanwhile, Klaus the majestic lion has a check-up on his paw.
There’s excitement and tension in the emu paddock because for the first time in years, chicks could be on the way. But the eggs will only be viable if dad Biscuit stays sitting on the nest. In this species, the male takes full responsibility for incubating and raising the young, but Biscuit hasn’t always been the most reliable father. If he abandons the nest and eggs too soon, the chicks won’t survive.
Meanwhile, Hamza is on a photographic mission. Armed with his long lens and the expert eye of park veteran keeper Ian, he’s challenged to capture two majestic species in a single shot, the native red kite and the African lion, but it’s easier said than done.
In Wolf Wood, there’s cautious optimism. After years of failed attempts, breeding pair Terry and Meg may finally be showing signs of settling down. Keepers are on the lookout for clues that a den may be forming.
Over in Animal Adventure, Pesto the porcupette is learning to eat his greens, and the keepers are hoping he’ll put on enough weight to meet his next developmental milestone. Meanwhile, up in the giraffe house, Kate discovers that these gentle giants may be communicating in a language we can’t hear.
