Builth Wells 12
The shimmering waters of Llangorse Lake stir up myths and legends, and a remarkable ancient secret that David Harper discovers in this episode from mid-Wales.
The serene waters of Llangorse Lake in the Brecon Beacons hold a tale of darkest revenge, as presenter David Harper learns on a visit to mid-Wales. In the middle of the lake is a small man-made island called a crannog, which was once the scene of a bitter feud between English and Welsh nobility.
Elsewhere in Powys, a less hostile battle takes place between two teams of bargain hunters at Builth Wells antiques fair. In red are teachers Alison and Jemima, who reckon they’re going to win without a shadow of a doubt, and in blue are hairdresser Catherine and son Lewis.
With Kate Bliss by their side, the blues immediately focus on a pair of French opera glasses with mother-of-pearl veneers, but sadly they’re too pricey. Over with Thomas Forrester and the reds, it’s 'hello cello' when they see a wine bottle stand designed as a stringed instrument. Then the teams and their experts head to Newtown to see whether auctioneer Ben Lloyd and the bidders can string together some profits for them.
