Taste ancient Welsh mead, meet the Wales Woman Farmer of the Year, and join a porpoise-spotting picnic in Anglesey in this week’s celebration of rural life.
This week, Country Focus is full of flavour, triumph, and the beauty of the Welsh coast.
First, we take a sip of mead; a drink as old as civilisation, but one that’s enjoying a renaissance in Wales. In Gwynedd, Mike Cooke of Mountain Mead is turning local honey into liquid gold, reviving a tradition with a modern twist.
Then, we meet Robbie Alman-Wilson, whose summer at the Royal Welsh Show was one for the history books. From Champion of Champions in the sheep rings to being named Wales Woman Farmer of the Year, her achievements are a testament to dedication and skill.
We round off with a magical event in Bull Bay, Anglesey – a clifftop picnic overlooking the sea, part of National Marine Week. There’s even a chance to spot porpoises gliding through the waves.
