Gemma Cairney sits in and is joined by Vietnamese American poet, novelist, and essayist Ocean Vuong. His latest novel The Emperor of Gladness came out in May. Plus she shares a piece on female friendship from performers Julia Masli & Paulina Lenoir.
Ocean Vuong is a Vietnamese American poet, novelist, and essayist whose work explores themes of war, trauma, queerness, and the immigrant experience. His acclaimed works include the poetry collections Night Sky with Exit Wounds and Time Is a Mother, and the bestselling novel On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous. He's received numerous honours, including the T.S. Eliot Prize, a MacArthur 鈥淕enius鈥� Grant, and fellowships from the Poetry Foundation and the Lannan Foundation
10 years ago an Estonian clown Julia Masli and Swiss-Mexican clown Paulina Lenoir found each other at a crossroads of their lives. They decided to make a show to help lead each other through the dark and have been performing at the Edinburgh Fringe festival.
