Bishop Budde on the Sermon that Shook Trump

Why did the episcopal bishop call on the newly inaugurated president to show mercy? And unpacking the spiritual and religious threads running through Van Morrison's music.

In January, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde preached the sermon at an interfaith service of prayer attended by the new President on the morning after his inauguration. The episcopal Bishop of Washington National Cathedral made a plea for mercy to be shown to people in America who 'fear for their lives'. Bishop Budde joins Audrey Carville to reflect on her preparation for that significant address, and how she reacted to the President castigating her on social media, describing her as a 'so-called Bishop', a 'radical left hard line Trump hater', and complaining that the service was 'very boring'. Her sermon was praised by many, many others.

Regular guest Dr Niamh Shaw looks back on her recent sea voyage to the Arctic, and compares what she experienced with a previous trip to the Antarctic.

And on Van Morrison's 80th birthday, Rev Steve Stockman looks back at the religious and spiritual threads running through the acclaimed artist's catalogue of hits
