Episode 1
John Niven, Hallie Rubenhold and Desiree Burch join Damian Barr to share their latest books and favourite reads with an audience at the Edinburgh Festival.
Filmed with a live audience at Leith Theatre, writer Damian Barr hosts authors in town for the Edinburgh International Book Festival and literary-loving celebrities from the International Festival and Fringe.
Best-selling Scottish writer John Niven discusses his latest novel, The Fathers, and Hallie Rubenhold revisits the case of Dr Crippen in Story of a Murder. Meanwhile, comedian and actor Desiree Burch reveals the storytelling craft behind her latest stand-up show and some of her favourite recent reads.
Out and about in the festival city, junior Fringe-goers talk about some of their favourite children’s stories, and Irvine Welsh discusses his latest book, Men in Love, which picks up where Trainspotting left off. He also reveals the disco influence behind his new album, released to accompany the novel, while a new film about Irvine closes this year’s Edinburgh International Film Festival.
