Episode 2

Rachel Kushner and Tash Aw discuss their latest novels, and Brian Cox joins Damian Barr straight from the stage at the Edinburgh International Festival.

Damian Barr hosts the literary chat show from Leith Theatre during the Edinburgh Festivals. He is joined by American writer Rachel Kushner to talk about her latest novel, Creation Lake, which was shortlisted for the 2024 Booker Prize. Also joining Damian is Tash Aw, who talks about The South, the first in what will be a quartet of books.

Meanwhile, fresh from the stage at the International Festival, Brian Cox talks about his role as the economist and moral philosopher Adam Smith in the National Theatre of Scotland production Make it Happen, which looks back to the financial crisis instigated by Fred Goodwin in 2006. Brian also delves into his memoir, his love of Bob Servant and his cinematic directorial debut.

There is also a sneak peek into the studio of musician Hamish Hawk as he prepares his show for the Edinburgh International Book Festival dedicated to the late great Scottish poet Ivor Cutler. And we go under the guy ropes of the big top to get book picks from circus performers on the Fringe.
