Piping from Johannesburg to Glasgow, Harry Ferguson and some Undiluted Leid.

Piping from Johannesburg to Glasgow, Harry Ferguson and some Undiluted Leid.

Helen Mark presents ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ Radio Ulster’s weekly Ulster-Scots magazine show alongside Rab Lennox and Willie Hill.
It’s a 100 years since Co Down native Harry Ferguson filed a patent following his invention of a three-point tractor linkage system - an agricultural game changer and key to food production around the world to this day. Stevan Patterson - a lifelong enthusiast and expert on this tractor story - talks to Helen on why one of our great inventors isn't celebrated even more than he is currently – especially in this part of the world.
Meanwhile, Willie took a run down the Ards Peninsula to meet Elaine McFeeters of Portavogie Culture and Heritage Society. Elaine has compiled a journal of Ulster-Scots stories - one of which she reads.
And then...to South Africa! While at "The Worlds" in Glasgow, Rab caught up with a legend of piping in that part of the world (known simply as Moose!) - and his competing daughter.
As always, listeners are invited to contact the programme with a good Ulster-Scots yarn or event to talk about. The easiest way to do that is by email - kintra@bbc.co.uk.
