Fiona Talkington brings you an afternoon of exclusive music-making including chamber music from Edward Elgar live from Wigmore Hall and Walton’s Concerto for Viola and Orchestra performed by Mathis Rochat and the ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ National Orchestra of Wales as part of a week which looks at works for viola and orchestra.
ÃÛÑ¿´«Ã½ New Generation Artist the Kleio Quartet, winner of the 2023 Carl Nielsen International Chamber Music Competition, continues to cement its place among the best of today’s young ensembles. The programme includes Elgar’s elegiac E minor Quartet, the brief miniatures of Webern’s 5 Movements and the joyful spirit of Haydn’s ‘Frog’ Quartet.
And throughout the week, Classical Live is featuring specially recorded highlights from various Bavarian summer music festivals. Today, Trio Orleon perform Haydn’s playful Piano Trio in A, from the Oberstdorf Summer of Music.
